| Environmental Watch, the residents¹ association, is a registered charity concerned with maintaining and improving the quality of life and the environment in the Braybrooke Ward, Hastings. Established in 1996, regular meetings are held, supported by the
Ward
Councilors, where local issues are discussed. The group is currently developing a Pocket Park, a neighbourhood improvement project. Other contributions made include the leading ands catalytic role in changing Southern Water's plan to remove the huge quantity of spoil from the new underground storm-water reservoir and treatment plant from road to rail. Although requiring a substantial additional initial cost to Southern Water, the additional works saves the town far greater costs, such as damage to infrastructures, traffic disruption, inevitable accidents, heavy noise and atmospheric pollution caused by continuous trucking of spoil during many months.
