| Broomgrove Community Garden and Launderette | |

The Community Garden and Launderette for Broomgrove were funded by the 2000 Scarman Trust 1999 Can Do Millenium Award to resident Jackie Gaunt, now Co-ordinator for the Ore Advice and Support Information Service (OASIS). The Garden, on a formerly wasted patch of land in the middle of the Broomgrove housing estate, created and maintained by residents, is intensively used for leisure and events. The Launderette, in Flat 147, OASIS' premises in the Sure Start Ore Valley community services building, is also intensively used by residents. Jackie Gaunt and other residents involved are willing to share their experience of setting up small, relatively straightforward community initiatives. Volunteers produce and distribute a quarterly newsletter. |
