1066 Housing Association |
1066 HA is the major social landlord in Hastings & St
Leonard's-on-Sea, East Sussex. One in eight local residents live in our properties, with particularly high proportions of young and elderly people. The town has problems concentrated in a number of neighbourhoods, and as an organisation with a large asset base and strong community ownership, we see ourselves as a catalyst for regeneration. In this context, some of our key aims
are:
Examples of projects or experience: Credit Union: 1066 HA and its residents initiated the Hastings & St Leonard's Credit Union. Tenant Participation Compact: a compact was developed in late 2000, bringing together policies developed over 15 years Added Value Audit: in 1999 the Association carried out an audit of its tenant involvement and regeneration activities which attempted to apply a cost/benefit analysis approach in assessing their success. Tenant Working for Tenants: the association has developed a number of services employing teams of residents, including survey work, caretaking, decorating and grounds maintenance. These projects collectively won the 1998 Participation Into Practice Award. Action Planning and Planning for Real: 1066 has initiated or worked with residents groups on a number of initiatives based around these tools Keyworker accommodation: the Association is developing a keyworker scheme in partnership with the local Education Action Zone |
