| The overall purpose of Hastings Voluntary Action is to enhance the quality of life of the people in the Hastings Area by promoting the principle and practice of voluntary action by both individuals and organised groups, and by supporting the development and provision of good quality local services to meet the needs of all sections of the community. |

Support services that promote voluntary action and help voluntary
and community groups operate effectively, including:
- Community newsletter and
information service
- Directory of local voluntary and
community sector resources
- Community accountancy and group
support
- Volunteer Bureau
- Community Fund: small grants and
training programme

Development work to address local community needs including,
regeneration and health, social care initiatives and support for Black
and ethnic minority communities.
- Facilitating networking between voluntary and community groups
enabling representation on key policy and planning issues. e.g
Regeneration and Health improvement.
- Establishing effective partnerships with the statutory and private
sector. e.g Local strategic Partnership, to develop a strategic overview
of community needs and understanding of how agencies are working
together to address local issues.
