Issues:

Transition from being a one-funder project to move to other funders

Funding streams often single theme - most areas need more holistic approach

Reporting back to Funders

Public / Private Match

Defining projects for funding

Projects need longer funding period, i.e. 3-5 years

Management Systems that handle info for all funders for one project

not enough notice from funders for termination of contract

Lack of information on funding opportunities

Uncertainty of continuation of funding

Short term funding vs. long term funding

LBN Legal Department delays affect funding for projects

How to replace SRB

Double-counting: lots of organisations delivering similar outputs, difficult to work together

lack of exchange of information

bottleneck of information

no single point of access to information

multiple bids for single project

funding for 'soft skills' difficult to access

Solutions:

SRB to adjust outputs to be more in line with other current funders

Working in partnership and submitting joint bids

all projects to list their current funders so that others can ask them for advice

List of funders currently used by SRB projects (NDC, NRF, Parochial, LDA, LSC)

web discussion forum on funding

learning from other projects experiences

SRB to be responsible to help make transition to other funders

access to quick free services from businesses

good contact to funders who understand funding needs

Single source of funding - remove fragmented approach to funding

cross-disciplinary bid - e.g. community, employment, capital works

knowledge of pockets of funding in local area

cash-generating initiatives (for self-sustaining) / private sector contracts to generate cash for non-profit work

Web-forum for Newham: all projects, funders, participants, providers

access to single source of information on all different funding streams

website constantly updated with funding info

Engaged, supportive funder - needed from the start: peer meeting, advice/support/develop people
